Global Citizen Live Rio de Janeiro 2026: Lauryn Hill & Wyclef Jean free concert
The stage will face this view: Enseada de Botafogo with Sugarloaf Mountain in the background
Following the massive Shakira concert at Copacabana Beach earlier this year, Rio de Janeiro is hosting another international free concert, this time at Enseada de Botafogo, with a unique background: Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer framing the stage from across the bay.
On June 6, Global Citizen Live Rio de Janeiro brings Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean to the waterfront for a night celebrating 30 years of The Score, the Fugees album that changed hip-hop, alongside Latin Grammy Award-winning artist Ludmilla, YG Marley, and Zion Marley.
If you're in Rio on June 6, this is worth rearranging your plans for.
What is Global Citizen Live?
Global Citizen is an international platform that mobilizes people around climate justice, extreme poverty, and environmental action. The Global Citizen Live format combines major music performances with social impact announcements, where artists and attendees are part of a larger campaign, not just a concert audience.
The Rio edition closes the first Rio de Janeiro Nature & Climate Week, a summit bringing together leaders, activists, and organizations around the Amazon, climate justice, and frontline communities facing environmental change.
Through this event, Global Citizen Live: Rio de Janeiro is working to mobilize funding for sustainable agriculture across the Amazon and Latin America, support up to 10,000 jobs, and drive contributions to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative working to expand access to quality education and football for children worldwide.
Global Citizen Live Rio de Janeiro lineup
Ms. Lauryn Hill & Wyclef Jean — headliners, celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Score, the second and final Fugees album. Released in February 1996, The Score debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, won the Grammy for Best Rap Album in 1997, and produced some of the most recognizable tracks in hip-hop history: Killing Me Softly, Ready or Not and Fu-Gee-La. Thirty years later, the album still holds.
Ludmilla — one of Brazil's biggest artists internationally. Latin Grammy winner, with a sound that moves between funk carioca, pagode, and pop. For international visitors, this is a rare chance to see one of Rio's most celebrated artists in her own city.
YG Marley & Zion Marley — special guests.

What to expect
This is an outdoor, standing concert on the waterfront. A few practical things worth knowing before you go:
Arrive early. Gates open at 6pm and the show runs until 10pm. Arriving in the first hour gives you more space to position yourself and explore the area before the crowd peaks.
June weather in Rio.June is winter in Rio, mild, dry, and comfortable for an outdoor evening event. Temperatures in the evening typically sit between 18°C and 22°C (64–72°F). A light jacket is worth bringing for later in the night. Rain is unlikely but possible, a compact rain poncho takes up no space.
It's a standing show on grass and sand. Comfortable shoes are a better choice than sandals, especially if the crowd gets dense.
Age restriction is 16. Entry is not permitted for anyone under 16.
The view alone is worth it. Enseada de Botafogo with Sugarloaf in the background at sunset, before the show even starts, is one of those iconic Rio moments.
