Accommodation plays a big role in budgeting but it’s not alone. Every layer of Carnival has its own price tag if you choose to pay for it: Sambadrome tickets, VIP boxes, costumes, private Carnival balls. None of these are mandatory, but they add up fast for anyone chasing the fuller experience.

To show you real numbers, I checked prices in August 2026, about six months out from Carnival 2027, for hotels in the neighborhoods most tourists consider: Copacabana, Ipanema, Botafogo and Flamengo.

Official ticket prices for Carnival 2027 (per person), sold through Ticketmaster, range from:
