Leblon is where many Cariocas would choose to live if money were no object and that shows in everything from the beach to the sidewalks.
Separated from Ipanema by the narrow Jardim de Alah canal, it shares the same stretch of sand but feels distinctly calmer, especially past Posto 11.
The neighborhood has its own metro station, Antero de Quental, along with some of Rio's best restaurants, many concentrated along Rua Dias Ferreira, a small strip packed with excellent options for dinner.
Parque do Penhasco and the Mirante do Leblon offer some of the best views in the city, framed by Dois Irmãos, without needing to hike anywhere.

Best for: first-time visitors and anyone who wants to wake up steps from the sand.
Hotels along Avenida Delfim Moreira put you directly across from the beach, with easy access to both Ipanema and the quieter stretch toward Dois Irmãos. This is the most straightforward choice if beach access is your priority.

How to get to Leblon from the airport
From Santos Dumont (SDU): 25–35 minutes
From Galeão (GIG): 45–65 minutes, depending on traffic

How to get around Rio from Leblon
Leblon is served by its own metro station, Antero de Quental, on Line 4. Despite having a different name, Line 4 is fully integrated with Line 1 — the same train continues straight through, with no need to change trains. In one direction, it's a direct, 15-minute ride to General Osório in Ipanema and onward to Barra da Tijuca.
In the other, the same train takes you to Copacabana Beach, the bars of Botafogo, Flamengo Park, and Rio's historic Downtown, all without leaving your seat.

Walk or cycle the beachfront
The 1,300-meter stretch of Leblon Beach, separated from Ipanema by the Jardim de Alah canal, has its own bike path connecting all the way to Leme. It's one of the best ways to get a feel for the neighborhood, with Dois Irmãos as a constant backdrop.
For a longer ride, the bike path continues past the Mirante do Leblon onto Avenida Niemeyer, one of Rio's most scenic cycling routes, running along the cliffs all the way to São Conrado. Hike (or drive) to Mirante do Leblon and Parque do Penhasco
At the far end of the beach, where Avenida Delfim Moreira meets Avenida Niemeyer, a short climb leads to the Mirante do Leblon, with kiosks serving coconut water and drinks overlooking the coastline.
Continue into Parque Natural Municipal Penhasco Dois Irmãos for one of the best panoramic views in the South Zone, framed by the Dois Irmãos peak.
